Seasonal Division Placements

RSS
GSYSL is a competitive travel league. Below is an outline of the Divisional placement process.

Initial Placements

  • Each season teams will register and indicate their team placement by division.
  • Each season the VP's of Competittion will review the previous season standings (U11 and above).
  • Relegation and Delegation: Each season the top teams (depending on record and roster) from Divisions 2 and 3 will be moved up and the bottom teams (depending on record and roster) from Division 1 will be moved down.
  • Each season the league will post the Preliminary Division Placements for Club's/Coach's for a minimum of 5 days to review. During this time Clubs/Coach's may "request" a change of placement, however coach's must document their request.
  • Clubs/Coach's should be challenging their teams to play in the most competitive division.

Divisions - U12 and above

  • The league is structured for teams to compete in either Division 1 (most competitive) or Division 2 (competitive). The league will offer a 3rd Division for "developmental teams" if there are enough teams (min of 5) to create a division.
  • Division 1 teams will be placed with out consideration travel within the State.
  • Division 2 teams will be place on regional basis (i.e. East, West,South and/or North)
  • Teams in Division 2 may request out of region play for competitive reasons.
  • ALL league play will be played within the division for that season.
  • Currently GSYSL does not have a "Premier Division". A "Premier Division" could be created at anytime when the suitable number of teams where available at the appropriate age level, including teams from outside of NH.
  • Because NH is a small state and the "Premier Clubs" cannot field enough teams at all ages across the "Premier" competitive spectrum, those clubs with "premier teams" have chosen to take their teams to "inter-state leagues" for the appropriate competition. If the "Premier Clubs" wish to participate in a Premier Division within GSYSL, the league will provide that option.

Divisions - Senior Division U15 - U19 Spring Only

  • The Senior Division is set up to provide High School age teams to compete across the U15 - U19 age spectrum based on their level of competition.
  • Coach's are encourage to place their teams in the appropriate divisions once the Preliminary Divisions are posted.
  • Initial placements will be grouped as follows:

  • U17 - U19 Div 1 Teams - "A" Division
  • U15 - U17 Div 1 Teams - "B" Division
  • U15 - U16 Div 2 Teams - "C" Division
  • U17 - U19 Div 2 Teams - "D" Division

  • Divisions may be added or subtracted based on the # of registered team in a given season.
  • Coach's can request to play up. No teams will be allowed to play down. A Senior Team's Age is determined by the oldest player on that Teams Roster.

U11 - U10 and EDP Divisions

  • All U11 and below teams are grouped (when possible) by competitive level and location to encourage less travel and more play.
  • A Coach's team evaluation is an important component of a team's placement as the league has no data or statistics for these age groups.
  • Coach's are encouraged to challenge their players, while GSYSL designates the U11 and below age groups as non-competitive it is important that skill levels are considered in these age groupings.
